Hosted by the International Association of Mediators and Poly-Experts (IAMPE) and proudly co-hosted and supported by the American University of Armenia, Resolve Academy, and IBRAMAC Brazil. This event will take place at the American University of Armenia in Yerevan, right in the city center. This iconic venue offers a perfect blend of tradition and modernity, setting an inspiring stage for young talents worldwide to showcase their skills in diplomacy and mediation.

International Mediation and Diplomacy Competition (IMDC)

The International Mediation and Diplomacy Competition (IMDC) is a global initiative that brings together universities, organizations, experts, and young leaders from across the world to engage in practical experiences of mediation, negotiation, and diplomacy.

IMDC goes beyond theory — it provides a real-world stage where participants practice conflict resolution through case simulations, expert-led panels, and skill-building workshops. Each edition creates a unique platform for intercultural dialogue, allowing participants to exchange ideas, test innovative approaches, and build networks that extend far beyond the competition.

This competition is designed to inspire and challenge participants through a hybrid format, enabling both in-person and virtual participation. Competitors will engage in realistic diplomatic mediation scenarios, enhancing their skills in negotiation, cross-cultural understanding, and peacebuilding.

Overview

The International Diplomatic Mediation Competition is a premier event designed for aspiring mediators, diplomats, and professionals in the field of international relations.
This competition offers participants the opportunity to hone their mediation skills, diplomatic skills, crisis management, and historical tools to engage in high-stakes (state-to-state) negotiations and explore innovative solutions to complex global conflicts.
Through realistic scenarios, unique formats, and engaging formats, competitors will gain invaluable experience in diplomacy, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), and more.
Purpose: In an increasingly interconnected world, the ability to mediate and resolve conflicts is more crucial than ever.
Our competition aims to cultivate a new generation of leaders who are equipped with the skills and knowledge to navigate complex international disputes.
By simulating real-world mediation-diplomatic scenarios, we provide participants with a platform to develop critical thinking, effective communication, and creative problem-solving skills.

Competition Structure

1. Rounds Overview

The competition will consist of multiple rounds, each designed to test different aspects of mediation and negotiation skills.

Participants will engage in:

- First Round: Team Scenario-Based Negotiation (draft)

- Second Round: The case study and diplomatic negotiation (draft program will be published soon)

- Final Round: Debates and Presentations to Non-Profit Organizations (judges)

Each round builds upon the skills developed in the previous one, ultimately culminating in a high-stakes mediation scenario that will challenge participants to apply their knowledge in a realistic setting.

2. Scenarios Final Round:

Debates in International Mediation Diplomacy (new format) The case scenario will be sent officially to each registered team and assessors.

3. Format and Logistics

The competition will be held in both in-person and online formats, ensuring accessibility for all participants.

Each round will be carefully structured, with clear guidelines and time limits to maintain engagement and focus.

Judges will evaluate participants based on their performance in negotiation, presentation, and collaboration.

Official Closing Networking Reception of IMDC 2026

The International Association of Mediators & Poly-Experts (IAMPE) is pleased to invite participants, judges, diplomats, speakers, coaches, and international guests to the official closing evening of the International Mediation Diplomacy Competition (IMDC 2026).

Held at Pandok Yerevan, the IMDC Phoenix Diplomatic Evening is an informal, intercultural networking reception that brings together the international IMDC community in a diplomatic, celebratory atmosphere.

The evening will include:

diplomatic networking;

cultural interaction;

informal celebration;

music and international communication;

and closing reflections following IMDC 2026.

Participation & Reservation

Participation is available strictly through prior registration and reservation confirmation due to limited seating capacity.

Registration for the event is free of charge.

Please note:

IAMPE organizes the reservation and coordination of the venue only.

Each guest independently selects and pays for their own food and beverages directly at the restaurant.

No restaurant participation fee is collected by the organizers.

As part of the International Mediation Diplomacy Competition (IMDC 2026), IAMPE is pleased to invite participants, judges, speakers, diplomats, and international guests to a special optional cultural-diplomacy journey to the Garni Temple and Geghard Monastery.

This educational and networking experience combines the following:

cultural diplomacy;
intercultural communication;
informal diplomatic networking;
historical and confessional diplomacy education;
and international dialogue in a unique outdoor environment.

The program is designed for the future:

mediator-diplomats;
negotiators;
peacebuilders;
international lawyers;

and diplomacy professionals interested in understanding the role of culture, religion, identity, and historical heritage within modern diplomacy and conflict resolution.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

explore Armenia’s historical and spiritual heritage;
engage in informal diplomatic discussions;
strengthen international professional connections;
and experience intercultural exchange beyond formal negotiation rooms.

The event also includes an informal diplomatic picnic atmosphere encouraging communication, collaboration, and community-building among IMDC 2026 participants and guests.

Matenadaran Cultural Diplomacy Visit

IMDC 2026 Optional Cultural & Educational Program

As part of the International Mediation Diplomacy Competition (IMDC 2026), IAMPE is pleased to invite participants, judges, speakers, diplomats, and international guests to join a special optional cultural diplomacy visit to Matenadaran — one of Armenia’s most significant cultural, historical, and intellectual institutions.

This educational visit is designed to introduce future mediator–diplomats, negotiators, peacebuilders, and international law professionals to the importance of cultural heritage, historical memory, and intercultural understanding within modern diplomacy and conflict resolution.

The visit offers participants an opportunity to:

explore Armenian historical manuscripts and cultural heritage;
deepen intercultural awareness;
strengthen informal international dialogue;
and better understand the role of civilization, identity, and education in peacebuilding and diplomacy.

Participation Information

Participation in the visit is:

optional;
based on prior registration;
and open exclusively to IMDC 2026 participants and guests.

Entrance tickets to Matenadaran (approximately 2000 AMD) are paid individually by participants directly at the venue;
Transportation and personal expenses are not included unless otherwise announced by the organizers.
